Genstar Capital formed Univita Health, a senior care services platform, in tandem with the acquisition of outsourced long term care insurance services provider, Long Term Care Group (LTCG).
The acquisition of LTCG is the initial investment in Genstar’s formation of Univita Health, a healthcare services platform focused on providing integrated senior care services centered on the concept of independent aging. Based in Phoenix, AZ, Univita was developed in partnership with healthcare industry veterans Ben and Hugh Lytle who will lead the management team and growth of the platform.
Based in Eden Prairie, MN, LTCG was founded in 1996 and is the nation’s leader in outsourced services to the long term care insurance industry and an emerging player in the geriatric care services market. LTCG offers a complete range of outsourced services including application processing, underwriting, policy administration, clinical assessments, claims processing, care management, and a robust suite of professional services to long term care insurance companies and their policy holders.

MidCap Financial LLC, is a start-up commercial finance company focused on middle market lending to the healthcare industry. The Company will offer direct origination in four middle market senior debt products: leveraged lending, real estate lending, asset based lending, and life sciences lending. MidCap will target transactions between $10 million and $200 million. The Company will be led by the entire former senior management team of Merrill Lynch Capital Healthcare Finance (“MLC”), including its founder and CEO, Howard Widra. The team has a strong historical track record executing Mid-Cap’s business plan—a majority of the team worked together at Healthcare Financial Partners and Heller Financial focused on middle market healthcare lending, and the entire team worked together at MLC.
