SAN FRANCISCO, August 8, 2007—Genstar Capital, LLC, a middle market private equity firm that focuses on investments in selected segments of life sciences and healthcare services, industrial technology, business services and software, today announced the appointment of Paul N. Clark as an Operating Partner. Mr. Clark brings over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, most recently serving as Chairman and CEO of ICOS Corporation. He joins Genstar’s other highly regarded operating partners and advisors who support the firm in its select areas of investment.

For the past seven years Mr. Clark served as Chairman, President and CEO of ICOS Corporation where he led the company through considerable growth and value creation with the commercialization of Cialis. He orchestrated the sale of ICOS to Eli Lilly (NYSE: LLY) in January 2007. Prior to joining ICOS, Mr. Clark served in senior executive positions for 14 years with Abbott Laboratories, most recently as Executive Vice President and member of the Board of Directors, running their pharmaceutical division. Before joining Abbot labs he held senior management positions with Marion Laboratories and Sandoz AG.

Mr. Clark, 60, holds a B.S. degree from the University of Alabama and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. He currently serves on the boards of Agilent Technologies, Inc., Swedish Hospital, and the Western Golf Association/Evans Scholars Foundation.
