Edmund M. Carpenter is an Operating Partner and Strategic Advisory Board member of Genstar Capital LLC, responsible for expanding Genstar’s industrial technology practice. From 1998 to 2006, Ed served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Barnes Group, Inc., (stock symbol B), a diversified international manufacturer of precision metal components, assemblies and distribution of industrial supplies.
Prior to that, Ed was a Senior Managing Partner at Clayton, Dubilier and Rice; and from 1988 to 1995, Chairman and CEO of General Signal Corporation, a diversified manufacturer of a wide range of industrial products.
Ed was the President and Chief Operating Officer of ITT Corporation, a company engaged in high technology manufacturing for a broad range of industries, from 1981 to 1988. He is currently on the Boards of the Campbell Soup Company, Dana Corporations, Altra Industrial Motion, Inc., Woods Equipment Company and Voice Construction.
