Bob Dowdell

Bob Dowdell serves on Genstar’s Strategic Advisory Board and advises the Firm in the areas of business, software, information and insurance services. Bob is the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Marshall & Swift / Boeckh (MS/B). MS/B is a leading supplier of local building cost information, residential and commercial property valuation technology and services for the property and casualty insurance sector in the US and Canada. During his tenure (1994 – 2005), he successfully transformed Marshall & Swift and Boeckh from paper-based publishing companies to “knowledge companies” that provide a wide variety of services to the property insurance, appraisal, and assessment industries.
Bob is also a founder and the former Chairman and interim CEO of Career Education Corporation (NASDAQ: CECO). Career Education is a $2 billion postsecondary educational institute, with 80+ campuses in the US, Canada, Europe and Dubai, and the 2nd largest degree granting on-line institution (AIU Online). Prior to this, he was President of National Education Centers, which at the time was the largest chain of postsecondary educational institutions in the US. Bob also served as Corporate Controller and Treasurer at National Education Corp (NYSE) and Corporate Controller of Chamberlain Manufacturing Corp (AMEX) and worked at Price Waterhouse in Chicago as an Audit manager.
Bob is Director and Chairman of the Board for TravelCLICK, Inc. and a Director of 21st Services.
Bob earned an M.B.A. and a B.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.
