Melissa Dickerson Honored on List of Top Female Deal Makers Shaping Private Equity

NEW YORK, November 10, 2019 — Melissa Dickerson, Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director, Operations of Genstar Capital, was honored on the Wall Street Journal’s list of Top Female Deal Makers Shaping Private Equity’s Present & Future.

The article states:

Melissa Dickerson joined San Francisco-based Genstar Capital in 2004 and has also served as its chief compliance officer. She has led the build out of Genstar’s operational infrastructure as the firm’s assets under management expanded to $17 billion from $200 million, according to Gary Michel, a member of Genstar’s strategic advisory board. “She has an incredible track record of decision-making by connecting financial information with key business strategies,” said Eric Wauthy, a partner at the tax practice of consulting firm Ernst & Young LLP who has spoken alongside Ms. Dickerson on a number of private-equity panels. Melissa Dickerson is the Chief Financial Officer and Managing Director, Operations of Genstar Capital, responsible for finance & accounting, regulatory compliance, risk management, technology and administration.  She joined Genstar in 2004.

Concurrently, Genstar acquired 57 platform investments, divested 33, and doubled its staff. Melissa has more than 20 years of middle-market private equity experience, with over 15 years at Genstar Capital as its Chief Financial Officer (current), Chief Compliance Officer (January 2012 to June 2019) and Managing Director of Operations (current).

Dickerson has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Vassar College and an MBA from the University of California Berkeley’s HAAS School of Business.
